far-fetched idea

came across the picture of this car in one of the magazines whilst getting my hair done at the hair salon.. this car indeed seems like an absolute beauty.. think its one of the latest model from ford and its called fiesta.. even the name sounds just as nice..

i used to think that 2-door sedans are troublesome.. totally not convenient especially if its a family car.. perhaps this idea came from my vague memory that daddy used to have a car like this when i was young.. i remember climbing in and out behind the passenger seat whenever we rode in the car.. and there were the times where i would climb over to the front seats just to get out from the car and it was thanks to those laziness of shifting the seat..

but looking at the picture changed my mind.. i'm beginning to think that a 2-door sedan might not be a bad idea after all.. even though this car also comes in a 4-door version, i still think that the 2-door version is much nicer.. but well.. my dream of getting a car still seems too far-fetched for now..

trip to the suburbs

11 aug - 14 aug
had a trip back to my grandparents place in perak, malaysia. haven't been back there since april last year. it has been more than a year long since i saw gong gong and po po.. the short but yet fulfilling 3 days trip made me realize how simple and happy those family bonding sessions can be..

i still remember when i was young, the majority of my school holidays was spent there.. those times were fun when all my cousins were there at the same time.. but it got really boring when everyone wasn't there.. its a typical kampong with no shopping malls, no cinemas.. so whenever i'm there, i would plan in advance lots of self entertainment to keep myself occupied.. at times it would leave me feeling so bored that i simply wish that i could come home sooner.. the lifestyle over at there basically is to wake ard 9 in the morning.. eat breakfast.. come home slack.. eat lunch at 1.. then slack.. have tea at 4 plus 5.. go cycling.. take turns to shower.. dinner at 7 plus.. slack.. and bedtime at 10 plus 11.. a great difference from my daily lifestyle here in sg.. which is why i always feel bored when i'm there..

but amazingly, this trip back to the suburbs didn't make me feel as bored as before.. in fact the 3 days seemed to have passed very quickly.. rested and relaxed thru out those 3 days.. watched dvd, managed to pay back my sleep debt, enjoyed gorging on food.. and most importantly, i enjoyed spending time with my family.. simple days of just spending time together and it was definitely time well spent..

camwhored before flight..

camwhored with cousin wenshan and baby cousin wenyao.. part of my entertainment.. haha =D
as we can see, wenshan enjoys making faces in front of the camera.. really 古灵精怪..

these are some of the scenes at my grandparents' place..

and this is my gong gong.. taken just before we left there..

another family bonding time coming up soon in december and i'm so looking forward to it.. this time round with more pple.. malacca trip.. i'm feeling excited alrdy..

those crazy moments

after work one day, we were so free and had nothing better to do.. so we put on the mannequin's wig and took random shots of ourselves. talk about team bonding.. haha..

then came the day of bobbie's birthday. bought him a slice of strawberry shortcake from breadtalk which he absolutely loves. couldn't keep his eyes and tongue off the cake throughout.

picking up from the last bit

its been quite some time since i last made an entry.. there's quite a bit of update and so i shall start updating bit by bit..

somewhere in the month of july, we organised a 3 person-only (me, mingxin and weisheng.. dear jenny stood us up) chalet.. i bet its something that not many people have tried doing before..
might seem a bit lame but it was a rather good alternative to the common drinking sessions at pubs and taking late night cabs home. before checking in at the chalet, we went gorcery shopping. and it was a surprise to learn that we spent an amazing amount of $150 on food that was meant for 3 of us.. but we kind of bought premium food anyway. pretty much enjoyed chilling there. we had premium bbq food, drinking of chivas mixtures, chatting late into the night or i think it was till dawn and jumping right into bed thereafter.

next day after check out, we went to this playground that was near the mrt. had a great laughing time while we played on the see-saw. there was great imbalance because of the weight difference. check out the photos and u will get what i mean. the one that really got me laughing was the scene depicted by the bottom left photo. mingxin's exasperated look cos i was unable to come down. the one on the top right corner was funny too. it seems that he finally got the chance to tilt upwards, and it took us great effort to maintain that position for the photo taking.

then somewhere towards end of july, emma organised a bbq session as a farewell gathering. it was an after work kind of thing. emma's bf was so nice to pick us up from the mrt station. we ate, chatted, took photos and ended the party at around 2am.

visited botanic gardens on one of the days with mel. think the last time i went there was when i was in kindergarten. anyway we went for yoga lesson before heading there and so by the time we were there, it was around 3 plus in the afternoon. decided to have late lunch at the cafe cos we heard that they served nice food. we finally settled on their breakfast menu. yes we took gourmet breakfast at 4pm. they do really live up to expectations. food was superb, coffee was nice too. after eating was a short stroll and some photo taking around the park. home sweet home thereafter.

that's all for now. be back for more updates. =)

down with flu and sore throat. having a flu at this time is seriously no joke. having symptoms so close to those of h1n1 makes it even more scary. went to the doctor yesterday and he said it's a common flu. so no worries. but i got to monitor for a few days. if it doesn't get better, i need to go back to the doctor again. so in the meantime, i got to quarantine myself at home. was made to wear a mask when i was at the clinic. den after i walked back to shop without removing the mask. scared the wits out of many people. and the guy at beetle bug even offered me flu medicine that doesn't cause drowsiness. how funny. but thanks for the concern anyway. =)

slept for 16 hours straight. feel so much refreshed. and in my deep sleep, i dreamed.
i dreamt that me and nora were on talking terms again. i dreamt that me, joe and mx hung out together just like before. i even dreamt that my relationship with joe isn't as strained as it is now. we were joking around, laughing at small little things and sharing little secrets.
if dreams could come true, how nice would it be.

celebrated arlene's birthday at zouk last wed. stayed over at robertson quay hotel that night. nothing much happening, just the usual booze and dancing. and so the pictures.

2 saturdays ago was a cycling session at pulau ubin with mx. it's the first time i travelled to an off-shore island in S'pore besides sentosa. i would say that pulau ubin is a place of country-side lifestyle, quite similar to those kampung in malaysia. lots of green scenery, quarries, barricades along the sea that deters illegal immigrants from swimming across and most amazingly, i saw a wild boar.. twice! these are the things that we won't find on the main island itself. it was a tiring day with much workout, but at least we achieved our goal of trying to lead a healthy lifestyle.

full of surprises

16 june '09 was probably a day where i woke up on the wrong side of the bed. was 15 mins late for work even though i left house at the usual timing. delayed myself quite a bit at orchard mrt control cos i was fanatically searching for my ezlink card inside my bag. was outside the shop then realized that i don't have the shop key with me. didn't know if i had lost it or what. contractors were supposed to do some work at shop and they were waiting outside with their tools and ladder. had to get erika to get the other key from tet and we opened shop at 11am. apologized many times. bosses all came down and deadline to return stocks was brought forward. given a 4 hour time frame to do what had seemed impossible. drove me into such a frenzy that i took lunch at 6pm. right before i left shop for break, i did a half somersault. saw a cockroach crawling and in my anxiety to kill it, i stepped, slipped and landed on my butt and hands. had to work overtime and was not allowed to claim cab fare. almost trapped in wisma. sprinted all the way from wisma to orchard mrt just to catch the last train and think we caught the attention of many people. it was a day of much unpleasant surprises overall.

17 june : a trip to jb
meet up with ah yi at city square. haven't seen her and my 2 cousins for almost 3 years. so unbelieveable. and so we had our much postponed meetup. had lunch, tea break, few rounds of shopping and we took neo prints. haven't taken for sucha long time. then me and mummy went for body massage. enjoyed it so much and my muscles feel so much more relaxed after that. got it at a reasonable price too. more visits will definitely come.. =)

hello wisma once again!

2008 v 2009.
while things on the surface looks pretty much the same, we know that it isn't.
being put the test once again whilst being transferred back to wisma.
not only do i have to deal with the challenges at work, those vivid memories that i had once built with those close ones will no doubt drift back.

i hope i can do it.

took some photos during last day at tampines. joy and maricel bought me a pair of earrings. touched =)

explore singapore

first day of gss. headed to town with mel for shopping. but we didn't shop much as we had too many things to do on our list. after a few rounds of malls-hopping, we went for yoga class at pacific plaza. first time attending class together and i would say that it was enjoyable, fun and hilarious. hilarious in such a way that we couldn't stretch in the way as we were instructed to. ended up in soft giggles. for mel, it was her first time trying yoga. for me, its a long long time since i went for classes. but nonetheless, it was fun.

after yoga was dinner with xuan and yenting at dempsey. a place with really good ambience and i wanna go there again. we used to have the impression that food there was extremely expensive so that's why we postponed our plans till now. but now since we know that food there is what we can afford., so more visits will come. had dinner at dome. desserts at ben & jerry's. and it was yummylicious. thanks to my ben & jerry's cravings these days.

we parted ways at dempsey and while me and mel were on our way home, we suddenly decided that it was still too early. and so we came up with the idea of going to timbre. the place was damn packed and there was a long long queue, as expected on a friday night. we had no choice but to give up and we ended up sitting by the river. it wasn't too long before we decided to head home.

dinner treat from mx at ding tai fung. my first time eating there. food was nice even though from the pics it looks kind of bland. healthy eating i would say. love those crystal buns with the much gravy inside. kind of feel as if we drinking soup when we bite into those buns. wanton noodles was nice too. and i shall not forget to mention the mango pudding dessert which was so heavenly tasting. i would absolutely eat that again on my next visit.

the yummylicious mango pudding

while we were still enjoying our dinner, weisheng did something that was really out of the blue.
he was tallying sales readings at the restaurant. omg! despite our efforts to dissuade him, we failed.

he was also busy reading the papers before the food came. oh man, what a kopitiam style!

after dinner, we went to timbre. and yes, i finally got in. bumped into shihui while we were there. we were there only for a glass and just when they were playing nice songs, ws wanted a change of location. double-o again cos he was feeling high and had wanted to dance. barely drink much when i was there but it left me feeling real uncomfy. seriously speaking, the more i club, the more i don't feel like clubbing. its time to lead a more healthy lifestyle.

supper with mx and jasmine at changi village last night. went for short walk at some kelong walk after that. looks like there's many places in s'pore that i've never been to.

random ranting

exams finally over. back at work for 2 days and i'm starting to miss my long break already. i know it sounds pretty common to feel that way after a long leave, but the feeling is especially so if you have to face those mundane repetitive tasks again.

being in an all ladies environment has its woes too. not that its the first time anyway. 10 years in a girls school. now working in a girls environment too. i've seriously seen and learned much along the way. those issues of being oversensitive, emotional, having to be extra careful with words that are used, having to think and care about the feelings of others.. does indeed get on my nerves at times. not that i'm trying to sound man-ly here but there are really times when i wish i could simply shout "Grow up people. The world doesn't just involve you. Learn to view from another perspective pls." Or sometimes i just simply wish whatever conflict there is would just disappear.. cos its really not a big deal at all.

but easier said than done. women are still women. no matter what age we're at, these issues will not disappear. so i'm trying to turn a deaf ear to these issues.. maybe turn a blind eye too.. cos sooner or later it will resolve on its own..

enough of ranting. now that exams are over, i've got a list of things to do. gotta paint my "new" room. buy some new furnitures. go on a short vacation. meet up with friends. go club. go chill. enjoy life. but the thing is i'm on a budget constraint. money really doesn't seem enough nowadays. asking myself to cut down on expenses seem tough.. so the only way is to earn more money.. ideas anyone?
